MEDITATION is actually a process or technique where any individual focus their mind on any thought or activity. By this, in simple words, you can achieve a peaceful or calm mental State.

Why we should do meditation? – Benefits

This is the question you must be having in your mind right? So, the answer is there are several benefits of Meditation. Now we shall get into it.

1. Improved concentration

A clear mind makes you more productive, especially in creative disciplines like writing in thoughts, etc.

2. Less bothered by little things

Do you sometimes allow yourself to get upset by little things? It is the nature of the mind. Meditation helps us detach. We learn to live in the here and now, rather than worrying about the past or future. We do not worry about meaningless things but see the bigger picture.

3. Better Health

The reason is that meditation reduces stress levels and alleviates anxiety. If we can reduce stress, many health benefits follow.

4. Knowledge of Self

Meditation enables us to have a deeper understanding of our inner self. Through meditation, we can gain a better understanding of our life’s purpose. We can meet real us.

5. Silent Mind

After you’ve practiced concentration and learned to focus on one thing at a time, you can reach to the next level: no thought at all. Achieving a silent mind is difficult, but when you will attain it the experience is powerful.

Benefits of meditation for students

Now a day’s students or we can say youth are people who are the most stressed ones. So it’s very important for them to meditate and they should know its benefits.

1. Better focus: It helps them to focus, which is very much important.

2. Reduction in destructive addiction: That is the addiction to drugs and alcohol. It helps them to get detach from these addictions.

3. Happier and more confident students: I have seen students who meditate daily are much more happy and confident.

Bonus Tip: Listening To Music during Meditation is more beneficial. No matter what kind of music (Indian classical music, Sound of nature and Instrumental music) you use, always remember that it should be soft to your ears. Music for meditation should never be harsh.

But many people say I don’t have time To Meditate.

In this busy life seriously it is hard to get time for ourselves. But if you seriously want something you will make time for that.

You can watch TV 30 minutes less or can talk less to get time to meditate.

Nothing is better than the feeling of inner peace. Meditation gives you inner peace.

How to Meditate?

Like anything worthwhile, meditation requires practice. To get the most from meditation you need to do it every day. This requires a place and time where you will not be disturbed.

Things to remember before meditate

  1. Don’t try to meditate lying down because you will fall asleep.
  2. Don’t eat before meditating. 
  3. It is helpful to take a shower before meditating.
  4. It is good to meditate early in the morning. It is said the best time is 4-6 am. But it’s not necessary.

How much time you should spend on meditation?

So personally I would suggest if you are a beginner you can do it for 5 minutes. Or you can try it for 1 minute. Then you can keep increasing the time day by day. But do it with full dedication.

Follow these steps to start Meditating:

Step 1: Sit with a straight back and neck, completely loosen up your hands, legs, and shoulders and keep your eyes closed.

Step 2: Then stop all the movement of the body and mind, like moving, scratching, listening, speaking and most importantly stop thinking.

Step 3: Now, you have to pay attention to your breaths. Don’t breath in or out knowingly. Focus on natural breathing and just feel your breaths as an observer.

This is where the game begins. You will get distracted by voices of the surrounding, different-different thoughts, body movements and many more.

Step 4: Keep in mind whenever you think something, it is your mind which is providing you information. Detach yourself from these thoughts and again pay attention to your natural breaths.

Bonus Tip: Practice daily and do meditation for equal minute of your age.

In my personal experience, it really helped me out from my stress. I am much happier now. I am so calm. I don’t react to certain things which are not necessary. It calms my body.
